The Mexican Revolution is the disastrous consequence of years of repressing citizens because of the Spanish desire of expansion. Nevertheless, it is crucial to understand the undermining factors in terms of both long and short in order to comprehend to a larger extent what caused the barrel of dinamite to explode. The short-term causes for the Mexican War of Independence began with the “Grito de Dolores” under which the Mexican Priest Miguel Hidalgo called upon the mulattoes and mestizos together to declare their Independence from the Spanish crown. This call to arms increased Mexican pride, or a feeling of Mexican individualism from the other nations, as stated by Miguel Hidalgo, “Viva la America por la cual vamos a combatir”(Grito). Notice the priest’s desire to unify and fight for the Independence of Mexico. On this day, is that most Mexicans will declare war on the Spanish government. In addition, the “Acta de Independencia Mexicana” shows the Mexican’s early desire to begin the fight for Independence. Although it seems logical to believe that the Declaration of Independence would be after the actual conflict, in many cases there had to first be an official declaration before the conflict began. Therefore, this article demonstrates the short term cause for the beginning of the Mexican Revolution, as this document prevented further Spanish ties to the Mexican Government, thus initiate the revolution (Acta) .

This picture is a painting from a mural in the Acapulco historical museum. It shows when Miguel Hidalgo started to march to Mexico city for their freedom with all his followers. By his side is Jose Morelos holding a paper that says "sentimientos de la nacion" meaning "the nations feelings". It shows how they were fighting for what they believed in was right.
