-September 15, 1810 
-Priest Manuel Hidaglo rang the church bells to call people to pray
-When everyone was gathered he told the people he wanted to regain land from the Spaniards
-Hidalgo have a speech called "El Grito de Dolores"

 

Native Americans, and Mestizos marched with Hidalgo to Mexico City to revolt against the Spaniards. At the beginning creoles supported Hidalgo, however they rejected Hidalgo’s call for and end of slavery and from an improvement of native conditions Hidalgo was offering them. The reason they backed off Hidalgo’s revolt was because they thought it would cause them power. Hidalgo was captured and killed less than a year after his famous speech “El Grito”. After Hidalgo was killed a mestizo priest named Jose Morelos picked up were Hidalgo had left. Morelos called for a change in social and political reforms in which he would improve conditions for Mexicans including ending slavery and give the right to men to vote. For 4 years Morelos fought in the Revolution however in 1815, he was captured and shot. After Jose Morelos death, Agustin Iturbide came and put an end to the Spanish reign over Mexico. Agustin Iturbide made Mexico an independent country and became Mexico's emperor

n September 15, 1810 Miguel Hidalgo accomplished to gather many people to initiate a movement that would eventually change Mexico forever. After reading this you will have a clear idea on the event Hidalgo led during this time, people reactions toward the movement and the continuation of the movement after Hidalgo died.

This map shows Latin America during 1844 when different countries gained independence from other nations. The small map at the left corner is a map that contrasts with the big map. The small map shows different countries during 1790 with different colors to represent which countries colonized them. In addition, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay and Venezuela gained there independence from Spain in 1810.

México City

Mexico went through tough times to gain there Independence from the Spaniards in 1810 but wouldn't surrender until achieving it. Mexico had great leaders such as Miguel Hidalgo, Jose Morelos and Agustin Iturbide that influenced in achieving their Indepedence, they even risked their life to give a better life for the Mexicans by becoming independent from another nation.
